On the occasion of Art Basel Paris, Château Shatto will present paintings on canvas by Emily Kam Kngwarray (b. circa 1914, d. 1996) and watercolors by Alan Lynch (b. 1926, d. 1994).

Though Kngwarray and Lynch approached the medium of painting from vastly different geographical and cultural coordinates, each artist’s material impressions arise from profound and sustained contact with the transmundane. In the work of both artists, ontological and cosmological engagement materializes in innovative representational structures, which grasp at the phenomena that pulses through existence.
